About Me

Hello my name is Rea and I am a bookaholic.......... they always say admitting to an addiction is the first step!

I will always be found with my nose in a book and a smile on my face!
I enjoy reading women's fiction as I find this genre is pure escapism for me but I do like to read the odd psychological thriller from time to time too.

I am not a fan of Science Fiction or anything involving Religion.

The reason I started my blog was to reach out to readers to help them to find their next read.
Through book reviewing I have discovered new authors and books I wouldn't necessarily have picked up before.

I usually read around 3 books a week and as well as putting the reviews on my blog I also add them to Amazon and Goodreads. I do not get paid for my reviews and if I get a book sent to me by the author or a publisher I do not let this effect my opinions on my review I will always give my honest feedback unless I couldn't finish the book then it is unfair to give my opinion.

Unfortunately due to the amount of requests I receive from self-published authors on a daily basis I am no longer taking on anymore requests unless I have read one of your books previously.

Please feel free to comment on my reviews, I hope you find my reviews helpful in discovering your next read.

  1. LOU,

I would like to request that you review my debut YA novel NOLICHUCK. It's written under my pen name of Jackson Keene and published by Trebleheartbooks.com. (I have a standard publishing contract, and the novel is NOT self-published. The publisher THB has been in business for over a decade and currently has a list of over 60 active authors.)

NOLICHUCK is published both as a paperback and Ebook, and is available at Amazon.com, Kindle, Barnesandnoble.com, Nook, Sony Reader, iPad/iPhone/iBook, and publisher Trebleheartbooks.com. (I'm not sure which Indy bookstores currently carry it.)

Note: I am interested in doing an Author Interview and/or Guest Blog, too.

    STORY OVERVIEW

TJ’s just an ordinary fourteen year old kid with extraordinary problems at home and school: A broken up family from his parents’ bitter divorce, evil bullies almost every afternoon, failing grades, boring classes, snobby girls, mean teachers, cut from basketball tryouts, few friends.

Life is rough for TJ Cockrell.

And then that mysterious little green book had to go and throw him into the past. And not just any past, but into the untamed forbidding forests of 1802 eastern Tennessee along with the savage Indians, wild beasts, bloodthirsty robbers, backwoods ruffians, and log cabin living! Yup, it’s definitely not 2011 Knoxville anymore.

And he thought his present life was bad news! But TJ’s adventures are only beginning. Along the way, he fights off killer beasts and bandits and braves, meets the young Davy Crockett, gains a world of confidence in himself, finds his first real love, and is befriended by a fantastic frontier family who really has it together.

When he returns to the present, he’s a brand new person––but there's killers loose in his house, bullies waiting to beat him up at school, a pretty new girl at Highland High he's hasn't even seen yet. And the aftermath of the little green book to deal with!

(NOTE: The story is gritty in terms of realistic villains and their language, and it also deals heavily with the relevant issue of bullying in schools, which is of great concern to many parents, teachers, and young people these days.)

For questions, comments, author interview, or blog tour opportunities, feel free to contact me direct. Please note that NOLICHUCK is available to bookstores, school libraries, and other book resellers at a substantial discount through the publisher Trebleheartbooks.com, or Amazon.com, or Baker Taylor.

For your book review, I can email you a PDF copy.

  5. Hi Rea,

I wonder if you would like to review my ebook, Looking for Alex, published by Carina UK and currently available for a free download on NetGalley?

Its themes are love and friendship, loss and betrayal - the story of a young runaway and her friend's search for her many years later, set partly in Sheffield/punk-era London, and partly the present day, and already has some 5-star reviews on Amazon.

If you want the NetGalley link you can contact me through my Facebook page.

    Regards, Marian

  7. My latest novel, Valerie's Retreat, is now available from Amazon on Kindle, and I would like to invite you (if you love romantic thrillers) to read and review this novel. Here is a blurb:

Valerie, a 40-ish Head Teller at a bank, has met Franco, 16 years younger and studying for a doctorate in archaeology. He is stunned yet eager to begin a relationship with this attractive "cougar", and they become lovers. Their lives begin to unravel when Valerie's female bisexual boss makes advances (and threats) toward Valerie and Franco is accused of the theft of an Incan artifact from a museum where he has been working part-time. Frustrated, under surveillance by the FBI, and seeing no way out of their dilemma, they decide to steal money from Valerie's bank and flee the country. They go to Peru to start a new life, but they find there the same type of corruption and threats. How can they escape their nightmares and make their dreams come true?

If you are interested in reading and reviewing this novel, please email me at rinald47@hotmail.com for a free copy. Don't forget to tell me what format you prefer (.mobi, .pdf, or .doc). I would also be very interested in an author interview and/or giveaway. If you are in a book club that is interested in discussing my book, I'd be happy to participate in the discussion remotely. For a sneak peek into Valerie's Retreat, go to http://www.amazon.com/Valeries-Retreat-Joseph-Rinaldo-ebook/dp/B00GCWNOQM/ref=sr_1_1_bnp_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1388948691&sr=8-1&keywords=valerie%27s+retreat, and click on "Click to LOOK INSIDE!"

    Thanks!

  8. Hello,
I am interested in having you read my book, Cora Rules, for a review. Cora Rules is one of my hotter reads and can be considered as contemporary new adult romance or as chick lit.

Here is a description for Cora Rules: Until her father died, Cora's goal has been to look drop dead gorgeous in the latest fashion and be seen at all the right places. Now in order to keep her inheritance she can't buy any new clothes for a year, and she's assigned to help her ex-lover's wife, Vivian Gordon, rediscover her mojo. Cora's in serious need of a massage. And there's one N.B.A. coach who's ready to give her more than that.

There is no time limit for this review.

    Thank you for considering.

  9. Dear Rea

I enjoy reading the reviews you write on Amazon and on your blog. I feel sure you would like the work of Marius Gabriel. (www.marius-gabriel-author.com) and think you’ll enjoy “The Seventh Moon”.

It’s the story of a powerful woman confronted by a stranger who claims to be the daughter she lost in the chaos of World War II.

Publishers Weekly called it "Suspenseful... highly atmospheric... harrowing... poignant" and the Chicago Tribune said, “few thrillers have as strong a sense of atmosphere and adventure as this fascinating tale."

I’d love to know what you think. A review from you carries a lot of weight in the UK and it would be good to spread the word of Marius' work here.

If you feel you have the time to take a look, I’d be delighted to send you a complimentary paperback or a Kindle download. If any the other titles detailed on the website take your interest, of course I can send those also.

I look forward very much to hearing from you (fsmythe1@gmail.com)

    Thank you for your time,

    Frances Smythe

  15. Hi Rea,

You have an awesome blog. Thank you for sharing your opinion and time with the rest of the reading world.

If you are interested in a contemporary romance novella that takes place in the Costa Rican jungle, may I suggest WILD GAMES by Mila Rossi (that's me), which was just released on Amazon November 25th, 2015. Below is the blurb and I apologize about entering my request here, but I didn't see another link for review requests/contact info.

Have a great upcoming holiday and keep up the good work!

    Best wishes,

    Mila Rossi

    WILD GAMES
Despite warnings of annoying mosquitos and beastly spiders, Becca Glover couldn’t be more excited about her expedition to Costa Rica. Rooming with Matt Ritter, however, is an inconvenience she doesn’t see coming. He wields a machete, shaves with a knife and needs to wear a decent amount of clothes to cover the muscles she can’t stop staring at.

Hired to lead a group of scientists through the jungle, Matt is convinced the fiery redhead is intent on making his job harder than it needs to be. Rebecca doesn’t listen and seems to invite danger at every turn. Her attitude is as much of a distraction as her curves and emerald green eyes. Now if he could only pay as much attention to his job as he does to her, their one-month adventure would fly by without a hitch.

Hot temperatures, wild animals and a shared tree house are just the beginning of Becca and Matt’s obstacles. The real challenge lies in surviving each other.

  16. Dear Rea,
I was hoping you would be interested in reviewing my story "Dead over Heels" (approximately 11K words). It's part romance, part crime, and part ghost story. Veronica goes on a very promising first date with Sebastian, only for them to have a supernatural experience at the restaurant that breaks open demons from their past that threaten to destroy them...will the relationship survive--and will they?

In case you'd like to check out the post on the Frith Books page:
    http://frithbooks.com/titles/dead-over-heels/

If you are interested, I would happily send you a PDF, mobi, or another ebook version of your choice.

Thanks so much for your time and consideration,
    Kindest regards,
    Theresa
