Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

It's every parent's nightmare.

Your happy, funny, innocent son commits a terrible crime: murdering a complete stranger.

You don't know who. You don't know why. You only know your teenage boy is in custody and his future lost.

That night you fall asleep in despair. Until you wake . . .

. . . and it is yesterday.

Every morning you wake up a day earlier, another day before the murder. Another chance to stop it.

I have been eagerly anticipating the next release by Gillian McAllister as she always delivers a shocking and gripping storyline that gets the mind boggled. Her new book, Wrong Place, Wrong Time and the opening chapter pulls you straight in and captures your attention with the sudden dramatic life altering event that takes place.

I will be honest and say I was a little wary about this storyline when it became apparent that there was going to be a strong time travel element to the storyline as I have never been a fan of time travel in novels (Bring it on if it was in real life!) but I can’t tell you how relieved I am that I persevered because I would have missed an astounding read. I soon got used to the time hopping further back and I actually looked forward to each new day and unearthing more clues as Jen finds out the life she has been living when looked at through a fresh pair of eyes has a lot of hidden secrets. It certainly got me thinking how I would love the ability to relive my life backwards to see it from a different angle and see what I had missed, The author has a great imagination to come up with the concept for this novel.

It was an utterly thrilling and unpredictable read full of multiple shocking twists and turns which made this book simply impossible to put down. Gillian McAllister has an incredible skill at creating cryptic storylines that keep you in the dark and on your toes from start to finish and this novel is no exception, I highly recommend this book so go grab your copy now!

That Night by Gillian McAllister

Today the That Night blog tour is stopping here at Rea's Book Reviews on its second to last spot on the tour and I am going to share with you my thoughts on Gillian McAllister's latest release that had me utterly absorbed and not able to put this book down as I waited to see which sibling was going to crack first under the pressure!

What would you do to protect your family?

ANYTHING.

During a family holiday in Italy, you get an urgent call from your sister.

There's been an accident: she hit a man with her car and he's dead. She asks for your help.

She'd cover for you, so will you do the same for her?

But when the police come calling, the lies start . . .

And you each begin to doubt one another.

What really happened that night?

Who is lying to who?

AND WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO CRACK?

Psychological Thrillers are not typically my go to genre but I have a set few authors who write in this genre whose books always grip me and Gillian McAllister is one of them. Her new release That Night is a pacy, gripping and tense read that certainly managed to pull the wool over my eyes which is a rarity in a book now for me.

When an accident happens on a family holiday after Frannie hits a man with her car she immediately calls her sister Cathy and brother Joe in desperation to help her. When they both arrive, it is clear the man is dead but they cannot face their little sister going to jail leaving their only nephew without a parent. But how far will they go to help protect their family?

I found myself completely gripped by this storyline and flew through the pages thanks to its short sharp chapters which are each told by one of the three siblings points of views. I kept telling myself just one more chapter but I couldn’t put it down as little seeds of suspicion were planted here and there throughout the storyline.

It really does raise the question as to how far you would go to protect your family and highlights that no matter what the crime is it is near on impossible to keep it a secret as the pressure soon begins to pile on and cracks begin to show.

The storyline has that sense of something not quite ringing true, like something bubbling beneath the surface but my suspicions as to who this would involve or what this would be fizzled away until something was revealed like an unexpected slap in the face and I couldn’t believe what I had read as there was no way I was expecting that revelation so well done to Gillian McAllister for pulling the wool well and truly over my eyes!

This is a book I would definitely recommend this Summer if your looking for something fast paced and tense that will leave you stuck to that sunbed completely absorbed in this family’s twisted dilemma.
