One Night on the Island by Josie Silver

One Day in December was the debut novel by Josie Silver and also one of my top books of the year in 2018 so it was a no brainer for me to dive into her latest release One Night on the Island.

Cleo writes about love stories every day. She just isn't living one of her own.

When the editor of her dating column asks her to marry herself on a remote Irish island - a sensational piece to mark Cleo's thirtieth birthday - Cleo agrees. She's alone but not lonely, right? She can handle a solo adventure.

Cleo arrives at her luxury cabin to find a tall, dark, stubborn American who insists it's actually his. Mack refuses to leave, and Cleo won't budge either. With a storm fast approaching, they reluctantly hunker down together. It's just one night, after all . . .

Josie Silver writes from both a male and female POV in her alternating chapters and she has such a skill with this where many authors I have read who attempt this often have a strength for the female voice than the male but Josie has a perfect balance with both.

The setting of this book on Salvation Island was calling out to me it was so alluring and the author left nothing to the imagination with her detailed descriptions of not only the calming views, the crisp air but also the small tight knit land dwellers and their strip backed lives and how happy and content they are as well as welcoming with open arms, OH how I wish I could have taken Cleo’s place!

Cleo and Mack both have reached a point in their lives where change is needed and Salvation Island is their stop gap to work out where their next path will lay but whilst they figure this out they provide us with witty moments from petty disagreements and water antics along with chemistry that was quick burning but leaving us on a will they won’t they see-saw.

The storyline does have self-discovery, self-love and new beginnings at the heart which is the perfect reading material for this time of year, I wont lie I did find the whole Cleo marrying herself a little bonkers and maybe a step too far. I do love how the author doesn’t create a simple romance but takes realistic situations and challenges with real life issues that can block a path to make the romance feel more believable and relatable.

This was another great read from Josie Silver, One More Day in December is still holding my top spot but this was still an enjoyable read that kicked off my 2022 reading to a great start.

One Day In December by Josie Silver

Today it is my stop on the blog tour for One Day In December by Josie Silver and I will be sharing my review with you. Be sure to take a look at the other blogs on the tour to see what everyone is saying about this stunning romance. This book is also a part of Amazon Kindle Monthly deal so is currently only 99p so get in quick.

I seem to have a thing about gold embossed covers at the moment so One Day in December caught my eye straight away and after reading the blurb I knew this was going to be my kind of read.
When Laurie looks out of the bus window and her eyes find this handsome man at the bus stop engrossed in a book (every bookworm’s ideal man!) she believes she has fallen in love when their eyes meet and he unsuccessfully attempts to get on the bus to meet her.
With the help of her best friend Sarah, Laurie is determined to find Bus stop Boy but when she finds him her heart breaks.
What an addictive romantic storyline! It has that will they won’t they pull to it the whole way through. Laurie and Jack ( bus stop boy) are totally made for each other but the impossible situation they find themselves in really tests their character and loyalty to those around them. The unpredictability of the storyline meant I had to read this book in one sitting as I was desperate to see if there was any way of a happy ever after for them.
Laurie and her best friend Sarah have such a strong friendship which I do love to see in a book.
Laurie is an easy character to love even though she has her flaws and her actions at times I didn’t agree with but because we understand the situation she is in we can see how impossible and unfair the situation she finds herself in is.
I would definitely recommend this book especially at the current Kindle price it is a steal. There is so much covered in this book, sacrifice, friendship, grief, heartache and romance.
A beautiful romance about boy meets girl but right girl at the wrong time!
