The Moonlight Hotel sits on the shore of England’s best-loved lake, Windermere, exuding vintage glamour.
Lauren loves the hotel, for hidden inside its faded walls is the key to her most precious memories. So, along with her best friends, Cate and Emily, she signs up to a new dance class in its gorgeous ballroom.
They aren’t going for the men, they’re going for a laugh – although a little romance wouldn’t hurt . . .
But then a chain of events off the dance floor puts their friendship to the ultimate test, and makes Lauren question everything she holds dear.
I was so excited to receive an advance copy of Summer Nights
at the Moonlight Hotel by one of my all-time favourite authors Jane Costello.
When anyone is looking for a fun, witty and down to earth read Jane Costello is
the first author who comes to mind as her books have had me snorting out loud
in public! Before I review the storyline I have to say that the cover of this
book is my favourite yet of all of Jane’s books and is definitely one that
would catch my eye on the shelves.
Lauren and her best friends Emily and Cate are single and
looking for lurrrrve and what better way to meet a group of single men than the
new salsa classes that are being held at the Moonlight Hotel a hotel that is
close to Lauren’s heart. With shaking hips, fun and romance everything is going
well until it is announced the classes are having to be moved because their
much loved hotel has been brought buy a budget chain and is closing for
extensive renovation. Lauren is heartbroken but can romance fit the pieces of
her heart back together again?
You know a book is getting a full five star review when you
settle down to read the first chapter of a book and the next thing you know you
have a numb bum and have finished the book in one greedy setting! Jane Costello
creates such exciting and good humoured characters who form such strong
friendship circles that you just want to be a part of. Trouble and awkward
situations seem to follow poor Lauren but each time she found herself in a spot
of bother I was laughing away.
Romance plays a big part in this book for all three women
but nothing is ever straight forward and there was actually one twist in this
book that was really shocking I didn’t see it coming at all ( I love it when
the wool is pulled over my eyes!)
The male characters were a great addition to this storyline,
Joe was oozing sex appeal, he was charming and a pure gentleman who obviously
knew how to wiggle those hips. Edwin, oh Edwin! He was such a little sweetie
but he seemed more like a nerdy best friend than the love of anyone’s life but
I loved him all the same.
This book gets a big thumbs up from me, it was addictive,
witty and had a wonderful group of characters and a warning never to drink when
you’re on antibiotics!
