A White Christmas on Winter Street by Sue Moorcroft

When Sky Terran returns to the village of Middledip after losing the job she loves, she anticipates a quiet Christmas getting used to her new life. However, the annual street decoration competition is coming up and this year, the residents of Winter Street are determined to win.

As she is pulled into the preparations, Sky quickly grows to love the quirky, tight-knit community she is now part of. Including the extremely handsome Daz, who soon becomes more than just a friendly neighbour.

But when Daz’s ex turns up determined to win him back and it seems he might not be the man Sky thought he was, she remembers how much allowing people into her life – and heart – can hurt. As the snow falls, will she and Daz find a way through – and help win a Christmas victory for Winter Street?

A White Christmas on Winter Street by Sue Moorcroft is my last Christmas book of 2022 and it has tied my festive reading off perfectly.

This novel is a standalone although previous novels by this author have also been set in this picture postcard village of Middledip, on our return we now meet Sky whose career as a property developer has taken a swift unexpected turn and she finds herself back in her childhood village after purchasing a home she is desperate to renovate herself.

There is a vast amount of supporting characters whose storylines are weaved around Sky’s to bring all the characters together and to help and support each other as we typically see in a village with its welcome ( and sometimes unwelcome ) community spirit. There is a blossoming romance that faces some bumps along the road but it made it feel a more genuine relationship that has its battles to face as two people really get to know each other. We have the sweet natured Wilf too who is a key character who is facing a big change in his family dynamic but having Sky and Daz to help him with various distractions was just what he needed.

There were a number of challenging situations that the author has tackled in this novel and she has done this with such care but at the same time has shown honest and true reactions to each situation rather than making everything rosy.

There is a wonderful Christmas feel with the book being set on the lead up to Christmas and over the festive period too so we had the perfect back drop with a snowy setting and Christmas decorating as well as a Christmas pulled together so nobody was alone.

A White Christmas on Winter Street is a definite recommendation from me if you are looking for a full on Christmas feel good read that tackles real life situation and struggles too.

A Christmas Gift by Sue Moorcroft by Sue Moorcroft

Georgine loves Christmas. The festive season always brings the little village of Middledip to life. But since her ex-boyfriend walked out, leaving her with crippling debts, Georgine’s struggled to make ends meet.
To keep her mind off her worries, she throws herself into organising the Christmas show at the local school. And when handsome Joe Blackthorn becomes her assistant, Georgine’s grateful for the help. But there’s something about Joe she can’t quite put her finger on. Could there be more to him than meets the eye?
Georgine’s past is going to catch up with her in ways she never expected. But can the help of friends new and old make this a Christmas to remember after all?
It has been too long since I have read a novel by Sue Moorcroft but how could I resist such a magical cover when I am such a little Christmas fairy!
A Christmas Gift introduces us to our two main characters Georgine and Joe who both knew each other way back in their school days and quite unexpectedly find themselves reunited years on when Joe begins work as her assistant, only Joe recognises Georgine instantly however Georgine doesn’t recognise Joe. Both of their lives have changed dramatically but will the bond they used to share be able to be reformed?
The chemistry between Germaine and Joe could be felt through the pages and after reading about the early years between them and seeing what challenges they had faced in their intervening years I was really hoping that a beautiful romance would develop between them as they seemed made for each other.
This is a modern feel good storyline but it also touches on some deeper topics from grief to neglect and debt which all add awareness and a little grit to this sweet storyline. It shows us that through life our paths change sometime for the best and but unfortunately at times for the worse.
I was hoping for a little more festivity especially with the storyline set around a Christmas show but there was only a small sprinkling of festivity, but the positive thing is that this book can easily be read a t any time of year. I really enjoyed the storyline and I would love to see a follow up to this book as I feel as though I have only just got to know Georgine and Joe but I don’t feel as though their story has finished yet so I will keep my fingers crossed that we will be reunited with them both in the future.

All That Mullarkey by Sue Moorcroft

Sue Moorcroft is an author I have heard such great things about. Having been keeping an eye on some of her book reviews recently I decided to take the plunge and purchased All That Mullarkey for my new Kindle Fire I couldn't wait to try a book by this author to see if she was going to become one of my must have authors!

Revenge and love: it’s a thin line … The writing’s on the wall for Cleo and Gav. The bedroom wall, to be precise. And it says ‘This marriage is over.’

Wounded and furious, Cleo embarks on a night out with the girls, which turns into a glorious one night stand with… Justin, centrefold material and irrepressibly irresponsible. He loves a little wildness in a woman – and he’s in the right place at the right time to enjoy Cleo’s. But it’s Cleo who has to pick up the pieces – of a marriage based on a lie and the lasting repercussions of that night. Torn between laid-back Justin and control freak Gav, she’s a free spirit that life is trying to tie down. But the rewards are worth it!

Wow what a tense and unexpected start to a book! I took an instant dislike over the controlling Gav from the moment his marker pen touched that wall! I was urging Cleo to go and enjoy herself thinking she would sit there and wallow over this nasty message she had been left, but surprising she did go out and ummm, enjoyed herself a little more than I was thinking!

I loved Cleo's character although I couldn't relate to her (thankfully!) she does do things that I wouldn't do and things I couldn't understand like not running for the morning after pill HELLO!! That aside I still had to keep turning the pages to see what hole this woman was going to dig herself into next.

I loved Justin he was our hunk of the story I thought on first meeting he was going to be a Jack the Lad but he was my favourite character in the end. I did find the horrible story surrounding him a little predictable although there was a mysterious who did it scenario I did feel it was quite obvious but that could just be my Cluedo skills coming out!

I loved the authors writing style and the way she set the book in to two parts the first part had that tense Oh My God what is going to happen next feel to it where as the second part felt a little cosier as we see Cleo's life changing direction and her love for her child blossom.

I will be browsing through Sue Moorcrofts other books after reading this book it had me hooked.
