My Sister's Wedding by Vicky Pattison

The Ashworth sisters couldn't be more different. Becky is focused, driven and about to marry her lovely fiancé, Daniel Balfour. Vicky Pattison's latest novel My Sisters Wedding is by far her best book yet. The storyline focuses on the Ashworth sisters Lizzie and Becky who have such a strong bond and yet they couldn't be more different with Lizzie who can't hold down a job or a relationship and seems to crash at her best friends or sisters house because she doesnt have a permanent residence! Becky however has a steady career and lives with her now soon to be husband but the problem is she has the in-laws from hell who will not be pleased when they find out about the upcoming nuptials.

As with Vicky Pattison's previous books her voice shines through in this novel but I feel this time it doesn't feel like the characters are based on her, the characters are developed well and each bring something special to the storyline. Pattison's experiences when it comes to the media and effects that they can have on relationships and friendships really shows in this book where at times the attention is thrilling but on the other hand as both Lizzie and Becky found out can also become so unbearable and can put relationships to the test.

Nicole who was Becky's sister in-law to be was VILE! She was a character you despise from the first meeting and one that you really want to see Karma catch up with. As much as she was a prickly character she actually brought a great amount of drama to the storyline and at times humour too. I loved both Lizzie and Becky they were both lovely girls and there strong sister bond, although put through the test in this book, still had each others back and show strong solidarity.

This was such a fast paced read that can easily be read in one sitting and fans of Sophie Kinsella and Lindsey Kelk will love this book as it had a very similar feel to these ladies books. If you love a splash of romance, scandal, drama and friendship then you will love this book. I hope Vicky Pattison revisits these characters briefly in a future novel to see what becomes of the lovely sisters and unbearable Nicole.

With such a pretty festive cover it was impossible not to stop everything and dive in to A Christmas Kiss by Vicky Pattison. I really enjoyed All that Glitters earlier in the year so I was looking forward to starting this one.

Amber Raey has always had big dreams to become a great fashion designer and she was hoping that working as an assistant to Diana would give her a chance to break into the industry but she seems to be slaving away still at menial tasks and she is no closer to her dream. When a chance meeting with fashion designer Allesandro arises she is about to get a chance to shine and make it to the top.

Amber soon finds out that life in the spot light is not all rosy when it attracts fame hungry people who put spanners in the works but can Amber keep her feet on the ground and also make a success of the career she longs to hold on to?

This is such a fast paced exciting read that has Vicky Pattison’s voice sounding out through the pages! Full of glitz and glam and the troubles of being in the spot light this is something that Vicky Pattison knows all too well and she has poured this into this storyline.

Amber is an extremely talented and determined character who has such a loving family to support her as well as encouraging friends too.

There is a lot of humour as well as some deeper moments that will pull at the heart strings as Amber experiences many highs and lows along her journey making mistakes along the way and desperately wanting to right the wrongs she has made.

My one little gripe is this book lacked the festivity I was hoping for after seeing such a promising cover and title, in truth this is a book that could be read all year around even on your next Summer holiday.

This was another entertaining and witty easy read that has a sweet splash of romance for you to enjoy.

All That Glitters by Vicky Pattison

Those of you who follow my blog will know I am always hesitant to read the latest celebrity books so when I was sent All That Glitters which is the first fiction book released by Vicky Pattison to review I can't say it was one I was eager to read and yet straight from the prologue I found my attention was piqued and I soon found myself speeding through the pages of this easy, pacy read.

Issy Jones has a real talent when it comes to hairdressing but after giving up her place on a well established training course when her dad became ill she finds herself years later still working in her mums salon doing the old girls perms and blue rinse! 

Keen for his daughter to follow her dram he enters her into a new reality series and when she is picked she has no idea what lays ahead other than her hairdressing skills will be put to the test but nothing could of prepared her for what she was walking into and the impact it would have on her life!

I am a reality TV fan so the idea of the new show was something that appealed to me in this show and being in a similar industry to Izzy I am all to aware of how relationships can be in the trade and I thought this was portrayed really well in this book. Izzy herself was a likeable down to earth character, she was young and rather naive in a few situations and yet she showed how ballsy she was in other points so she was a well rounded character. I did start to become disappointed in her character along the way but her family and friends were all on hand to try and keep her grounded and I can imagine some of the words of wisdom that Issy had from her father may have been pulled from words of advice given to Vicky Pattison over the years she has had in the limelight.

There were a number of characters to get your head around and it did take me some time especially with the contestants to place who was who and at times I got the boys mixed up but one character who was impossible to get mixed up was the spoilt and rude princess that we call Mia! She sure was a character you love to hate and yet I loved her parts and found myself chuckling away at times especially with the face cream incident!

This is the kind of book I would want to pop in my bag for holiday reading, it is an easy read with a little twist that although I knew something was coming I still couldn't work out exactly what it was. I would recommend this book and in fact my niece has already pinched my copy after I told her that it was not what I was expecting at all. I am pleased I gave this book a chance as it was an enjoyable little read.
